every city has its idiots.
but regardless....it is something worth attending. its not underground at all. its a huge city event.
and even being so, its still a good atmosphere and the music is still amazing.

I can't believe what I'm reading! are you serious about the candy kids? I haven't seen those in years!!! I went to WMC and BPM already and I was planning to go to DEMF this year because the DJ line-up is 100x better than any other festival or conference in my opinion. I was also under the impression that it would be more underground, which is great...and that people whould have a better knowledge of the music and artists performing! But candy ravers??? seriously WTF!!!

I can actually see that girl showing up with her pacifier to 2025 DEMF (if it ever goes that far that is, which it hopefully does, since it is probably one of the last events that can bring tourists or visiting people to Detroit these days...)

I hope I did not come across like a total asshat for it seems like we feel similarly about the scene. You are correct, DEMF is basically a rave and that in my opinion is just plain sad. Just about every variation of the electronic music is represented at this fest but the visitors keep making it into a rave. I do not think that Derrick May intended for DEMF to resemble rave in any way, shape or form but that is what it turned out to be. I guess, that is why I am more drawn to WMC and Sonar...
