I think this song is about John Mayer himself. About the things he's been through in life, his past, his relationships. The media drama and the constant notions for people who believe he's just a douche bag, Just because he dated a lot of celebrities. He's saying that some people have this notion about him that he's one person when in actuality John him self is actually not.

Basically he's confessing to those who thinks ill of him he's an honest man with an honest heart and he knows his worth.
