I bought a box at auction a few years ago and two 1600 ft 16mm reels of the World Series were in there. One is 1963 and the other 1964. They were of the Yankees and Cardinals / Dodgers.Coca-Cola sponsored it. This footage is of the 1964 series and I only have the short clip. I had a local film shop try and convert them to dvd but they didn't have the correct equipment as you can tell in the video. So they ran me off a short clip just to let me see what the footage looked like. So beyond the first couple of minutes I have no idea what's on the film! Should be very interesting! I believe each film is 1200 feet. Would like to sell both. bpick@blomand.net

  • Wrong wrong Uncle Bob Uncle Bob. The 64 series was played at Busch Stadium I, formerly known as Sportsman's Park, where the Gas House Gang played. As legend has it, when Anheuser Busch bought the Cardinals and the stadium in 1953, they first tried to change it's name to Budweiser Stadium, but MLB frowned on the crass commercialism. Naming rights hadn't been thought of yet. As a fall back, the stadium was named Busch, and the brewery later introduced a new product, Busch Bavarian Beer.

  • Bush Stadium was not the stomping grounds of the Gas House Gang. It didn't even exist when the players Harry Caray mentioned were on the diamond.

  • Yeah, there's a good chance they would've won. Actually, Ford had been hurt the whole year and dealing with it. During this game though it became unmanageable.

  • @bondsly If Whitey Ford hadn't got hurt in Game 1, I think the Yankees would have prevailed.

  • The 1964 series one of the greatest world series of all time between two of the greatest teams of the 1960's decade with the Cardinals pulling it out in 7 games. In that series in game 4 with the Cardinals trailing the series 2 games to 1 and the Yankees leading 3-0 in game 4 ready to take a 3 game to 1 lead in the series Ken Boyers dramatic grandslam in the 5th inning won the game 4-3 for the cards and it tied the series and put the Cardsback in it and St Louis won game 5 and 7 to win it.

  • Great World Series between perhaps the two Historically Franchises in MLB the Yankees and Cardinals

  • Came so close in this Fall Classic.

  • Thank you for posting this Classic clip !

  • R.I.P. Harry Caray

  • GO CARDINALS
