  • Toibin could have Freud and Jung in a room with Miss Jane. Miss Jane would easily understand both Freud and Jung but they could not and would not take the time to understand her. The two men would easily dismiss her as dysfunctional and turn their attention to Toibin as host. The better dinner guest to pair with Miss Jane would be Margaret Mead.
