Being an artist for the game industry isn't impossible, you just have to put in more effort then the other guy. It's competitive. Best advice I can give is keep practicing. Even if you're away doing something else, make your assets, get work done, zbrush, max, maya, photoshop, NDO, whatever, use them, and rock it because if you don't the other guy is going to take your job, and you'll be left teaching....be productive. Oh and have a website.

I attend the Art Institute of Vancouver and if you think the gaming industry is underdeveloped in Canada you have not done your research. Additionally as long as you work hard it is a realistic goal to accomplish. The hiring rate is extremely high even 6 months out of graduating. Your "realism" is just you being lazy and not pushing yourself. Sorry you are so happy to compromise with your happiness but I'm living my dream.

I wish people will stop looking toward industry final fantasy wasn't that good of a game in the
first place it had a compelling story. Put it up against real titles that stress what games are
all about "Story/creativity" Devil may cry, God of War, etc...
Creativity is what the industry wants but they over professionalize in
their efforts anyway... 3:31 into your video and you don't seem to know a lot about the game industry.

canada has one of the most active game developer communities in the world today. how can you go an entire video talking about video games in canada and forget to mention montreal? the industry is only getting bigger here and ontario and vancouvers government have been so good to the industry pouring money in because its good revenue for the economy. if you have dreams kids, go take a life drawing class or an MIT in programming, or do both like me :)
