@southafricandominion Not correct. If the altar is free-standing, the priest circumambulates it for the cinsing, according to the rubrics. Not playing, but very proper indeed.

except that even in the Old Litrugies' rubrics, if the altar was freestanding as this is, the priest is required to circle the altar. It's just that starting in the High Gothic, most churches were built with altars flat against the wall.

What on earth was the priest doing circling the altar. If you are celebrating Mass in the Eastward postion which he clearly was you dont go round the altar but cense the cross and candle stick and why was the sub deacon not assisting with the cencsing? Mad playing at ritual in my opinion.
