How do you say thank you and other common phrases in Cantonese for your Hong Kong visit?

Other Information:
Language - Cantonese

Cantonese is the language spoken by the majority of the locals in Hong Kong. It is not an easy language to learn but with a little homework you can learn some useful phrases that will help you during your trip to Hong Kong.

Number ten, if you are looking for the subway, you can simply say "day teet", and for a taxi you say "dek si"

Number nine, for checking prices, you would say "gei dor chin a?" for how much does that cost.

Number eight, for goodbye it is "joi geen"

Number seven, when telling your name, you can say "ngoh giu" which translates to "my name is" so in my case it would be, "ngoh giu Rosanna."

Number six, in case you need assistance, it would be "gow meng ah" which means help.

Number five are the greetings, for good morning "jo san", for good afternoon "m an" And for good evening "maan an"

Number four, for those urgent bathroom moments, "chee soh hai been do ah?" or "where is the bathroom?"

Number three, when you have to be polite, please is "cheng" and thank you is "m goi"

Number two, yes is "hai" and no is "m hai"

And the top phrase that will be most useful for while you are in Hong Kong is "lei ho" which means hello, again that is "lei ho" for hello.

Now you can impress some locals with your new vocabulary. This is Rosanna Wilcox, showing you Hong Kong.
