@robuk1981 Do you really want to live like that now? Nostalgia is fine - reality isn't so cosy. Check out the Dundee censuses to see how many people lived in a 2 room tenement, how many windows, it had and remember that all the inhabitants had to share the outside toilet with several neighbours.
any one got any pictures of st davieds lane lockee the old tenament's were i was born 1959...... i been told its knocked down and replaced as a travel lodge
I know the feeling - feeling quite nostalgic as I view these pics. What a shame the author didn't identify all of the pics :-( I was born on the Hawkhill, my aunty and uncle lives in Kincardine St and I was terrified to walk up the stairs like the ones in this pic - i clung to the inside so that I wouldn't fall out!!! I was no more than a child!
Thanks you for posting these great photo's they bring back a lot of memories, The photo 0.04 and 0.06 is of the old buildings that used to stand in Wilkies lane between the Hawkhill and Blackness road immediately opposite St Joseph's Catholic church ( still standing ).
The plettie with the washing on the line is the house where I spent the first years of my life as a wee boy
Where did you manage to find these photo;s could you let me know so I could buy some.
