St. Vincent de Paul was born of a peasant family at Pouy, Gascony, France, in 1580, and worked as a shepherd boy on his fathers farm. At a young age Vincent had a great desire to become a priest; and after completing his studies for the priesthood, he was ordained in 1600 and remained in the vicinity of Toulouse, acting as a tutor while continuing his own studies.

Having traveled to Marseilles for an inheritance and sailing home to Toulouse, Vincent was captured by Turkish pirates in the year 1605 and was taken to Tunis. He was maltreated and eventually sold as a slave; but he escaped two years later with his master, a renegade whom he eventually converted to Catholicism. Upon his escape from the Turkish pirates, Vincent immediately dedicated his life to the practice of spiritual and corporal works of charity. He set up many poor houses for the crippled and sick and personally cared for the patients who had the most contagious diseases. He would dress their wounds and nurse them back to health; indeed there wasnt a poor man that didnt know of Vincents kindness.

On the 27th of September in the year 1660, Vincent died at the age of eighty, having faithfully served God throughout his whole life. On August 13, 1729, Vincent was declared a Blessed by Benedict XIII; and on June 16, 1737, he was canonized by Clement XII. St. Vincents bones and heart are perfectly incorrupt and have been placed inside a wax figure of his body. His relics can be seen in the Church of St. Vincent de Paul in Paris.

  • placing a corpse for public view is just wrong

  • @killjoy545 does that include mummy displays?

  • great film.

where is this situated? I must go and see this!

  • In Paris, France.

  • Thank you for this very much for this inspirational vdeo. As you say St. Vincents bones and heart are perfectly incorrupt and have been placed inside a wax figure of his body. His relics can be seen in the Church of St. Vincent de Paul in Paris.

Does that mean however that he is not incorrupt? The body we see here is a wax effigy is it not? I do not mean to be disrespectful as I very much admire this man and his mission.

  • Well, if the definition of 'Incorrupt' means that his whole body is perfectly preserved, then I suppose he is not (though I'm no expert on it). But I do know that it's a blessing to even have what we have. :)

  • @DrewAnti1960 maybe in the US your not but in other country like mine Saints are being worshiped. It's just sad cuz Saints are just good people and not God.

  • @8sacramento8 entiendo un poco pero las imagenes no son imagines para adoracion sino respecto a la gente. Tienes photos de familia? Cuando un rey esta a puesto del asiento, no hay gente que se rodillan en respeto?

  • @nonoy107 its called venerating the saints,we only worrship God,,we venerate saints,peace

    Repent of sins please.....

  • @nonoy107 It is...and I am glad that neither I nor my fellow Catholics do such a thing.

  • worshipping saints is a sin.

  • his preserved bones are inside this wax figure of him.. his incorrupt heart is at the church of our lady of the miraculous medal in paris.

  • @uncatila I pointed out the use of "real", besides the corpse you saw is probably as "real" as the "imaginary" snow white, it's just piles of wax thats why it looked white
