Princess Mononoke Making 【1】 (14_14) has finally come back with english subttitles!
In this 14th episode, we see how Miyazaki undertakes a 1.5 second shot where Ashitaka jumps down from a rock but tumbles because of his weak physical condition.
There are a lot of creator's sufferings and struggles in there before the completion of the work and we'll get to know that a creator has to accept to keep taking the both Excitement AND Angst within.
The narrator goes ''To tell things one already knows is Transmission but Expression be attainable only in severe struggles to get a hold of the Unknown.''
Lastly, I wish you great holidays and a happy new year.

  • One more thing:

I'm planning to start on the 1st episode of the 2nd series (which is 2-1/15) around the beginning of the next month, next year.

    Have great holidays then (;

  • I wish I could translate faster but I just can't, or I wish somebody else would be eager to start on the 2nd or the 3rd series, but for now I seem to the only one who's into it.

So you might have to be a little patient about the coming 2nd and eventually the 3rd series...

though, I can promise you that I'll post at least 1 episode (1 file ) per week.

Many thanks for your kind understanding of the above all.

  • Thank you for staying interested in this series. I'm really glad I've finished all the 14 episodes of the 1st series within this year.

However, I'd like to repeat in here why I cannnot post each episode at any faster pace.

It's not as if I've already translated the whole series in advance, but I'm adding the subtitles on each file whenever I have my sparetime and it takes quite a time.

  • For 1.5 sec animation he spent a half day... what a work, amazing!!!

  • damn thats my dream job...! :D

  • Hayao Miyazaki draws like a real pro and the correct way. Hill make sketchy rough sketches with guidelines and shapes for the first picture than a put a nice clean of sheet of paper over it than trace it to make a perfect picture. That's the correct way how to draw it's how pro's draw what's with kids thinking they do it without even erasing sign kids today,,,

  • This was amazing would of loved to see Miyazaki make one whole scene from sketching. Probabily takes him a long ass time since there so detailed! But that's the beauty of his art :D

  • Wow that's some real passion ! Miyazaki-san even imagines every single "why the character moves like this" thoughts. I really hope there's a chance to learn from this guy =/

  • I finally know how to draw now this video was made by god!!!

  • He's truly a storyteller, with how he lets the characters tell the story as he draws - that's true brilliance, in the process, not the planning, although that's there too! And the perseverance is so important too - talent, skill, and the will to finish what you started, even if you're working on one tumble for half the day. It's just amazing to know that talent like this exists out there. There will never be another like him. :)

  • This is amazing, as expected from Miyazaki. He puts so much effort and thoughtful detail into his work - it's not just drawing recognizable figures that's an issue - he does that effortlessly. It's adding an extra aspect of realism, straight from experience, that brings animation to life - the way Chihiro puts on a shoe, or the lizard-like movements of a dragon...

  • @MattRaizoku Yes very fast.

  • @tominator0x0 The way he draws it is he mainly makes a fast outline on the characters he doesen't really use shapes he just draws them out. Than hill add details that's why he's so fast at doing it.
