is it plastic? and are you not worried about getting a ring around it from dirt and weather? how sturdy is the clip on? can anyone walk up to it and just take it off?

@MrHardlyWorking It is plastic but it is also the same OE emblem that is used on the W204 models. It holds perfectly well and I've had no issues with leaking, scratching, or with dirt and weather.
The clip is designed to clamp the hood's sheet metal between the face portion of the emblem and the mounting base. There's no way to remove it from the top without damaging the hood.
Again, its a factory MB emblem.
