  • Never really had any conversations with the guys in the band, although one night our singer almost got in a fight with DLR. We played the first set then Van Halen played the second set. After their set, there was about a half hour of DJ music before we went back on. Right before they left the stage, DLR said that it was all downhill from here. Our singer thought he was dissing our band so he went outside and got in his face. Dave said that was not what he meant at all. Then they shared a joint.

  • Ahahaha! That's not the first time that that's happened! The same thing happened with Van Halen's concert set designer... Him and Dave had a falling out, but Dave got out of it by smokin a doobie with him :P

Who was better in those time, Randy or Ed? And were there any other guitarists that were doing what Ed was back in the club days?

  • I was fortunate enough to be in a band that played numerous times on the same bill with Van Halen before their first album came out. We thought we were good. We were fools. It was obvious even to the casual listener that Van Halen was destined for greatness. They did covers sometimes better than the original artist, sometimes making it their own. I heard them play Man on a Silver Mountain, Slow Ride, Drive My Car, Play That Funky Music, among countless others.

  • Wow man! Thats crazy! Did you ever talk to Ed?

  • Thanks for posting this. Where'd you come up with this? I keep telling my brother how short sighted it was for Warner Bros. not to have put this kind of stuff out. And so few early concert footage either. This kind of stuff is fun.

  • i think this was on "Dave's Back:Rarest Covers and Demos", which i got most of the songs of my vids off. Now i have a huge collection of boots in my hardrive...

  • @kadyvre1 you miss the whole point of the thing. I'll type slow so you can understand. This is a very early recording, probably recorded with a cassette recorder or whatever was on hand at the time, of a band who later rose to be one of the largest draws ever. Has nothing to do with the quality of the recording.

  • This was the only Combo wearing the Van Halen label that worked. David Lee's arrogant vocals combined with Eddie's asshole but great guitar style that won people over...Sorry, but I lost Sammy when he joined...

  • Really sucks. But...He did get to fuck Val.

  • "Did you see Junior's grades?" :D This reminds me of "and the cradle will rock". off of women and children first.

  • the dutch will rise again

  • This is one of the worst recordings of a song I've ever heard. It sounds like you put a mic up to one of the speakers.

  • dont listen too long, there is a super high pitch for some reason that will make your head explode

  • david lee roth is a total asshole. zio nazi...

  • dutch proud!!!!

  • Shitty cover.
