This is a random selection of clips that I have been rendering out as I learn iClone4. As you can see, I'm very interested to see how iClone combines with greenscreen footage.

The compositing in this video is not very good, but since then I *have* figured out how to get super-clean composites -- (The shot of the guy sitting in front of the Egyptian pyramid is an example of good compositing.) I was very pleased with the "horse riding" shots, and the particle effect tracked to the actor's hand (the wizard).

iClone is freakin' awesome.

  • Hello Jason, You gave me food for thought. Do I need to buy popVideo converter to integrate live characters to do composites.(already have premiere and vegas for green screen)? I want to purchase virtual newsroom for online TV news channel. Thanx for putting me straight. Anthony

  • @anthonybhill I am pretty sure that if you have Premiere and/or Vegas that you DON'T NEED Popvideo Converter.... You should be able to make the diffuse image and the mask image using Premiere. However, the most powerful (and affordable) software for compositing is "CompositeLab Pro" --- which allows you to finetune and fix problems with your greenscreen footage --- I use CompositeLab instead of Premiere for compositing, and still I use Premiere for editing the final videos....

  • Hi, I noticed that the real characters had shadows that move with them. Are the shadows residual from the green screen composites, or did you draw them in? They look great!

  • @demofactory iClone *automatically* places the shadows from the real characters into the scene! Make sure to set your shadow-casting light to "self cast shadows" and rotate the light to get the shadows you want.

  • Do you have Standard or Pro? I bought standard as part of a bundle (it came with both Virtual Studio and Motion Montage) for 90$. I know Standard can do these things as well, but I haven't tried the particle effect tracking yet.

  • I have the PRO version... You really need to have the TIMELINE functionality in order to do proper tracking....
