Good news! I re-loaded GIMP and fixed my problem. It turns out that I had those dialogs but not in boxes, only as tabs. I did everything you did in the video and I am very excited. Thank You! My only issue now is that somehow my text changed form Marker SD to something else that doesn't look hand-written. Any idea how that happened?

Just change the font back to marker SD. Maybe reloading gimp reset the font.

Great tutorial. I'd like to add, however, that maybe if you used a radial gradient instead of a solid color for the note it would look even more realistic :)

Why do you have to create another layer for shadows if GIMP has Filters > Light and Shadow tool?
