GIMP tutorial that will teach you how to make to a Post-it or Sticky Note in GIMP. It's an easy to follow tutorial that will also teach you some awesome gimp tricks that let you know how to sharpen a rotated text layer and how to use the IWarp filter to create curves.

The font used is Marker SD

What Screen-Recorder do you use for your Gimp tutorials?

  • @rjwarda Camtasia Studio or Camstudio.

  • No, this was after I re-loaded GIMP. Exactly how do I go about changing the font? And, can I change the font size while I'm at it?

Thank you! Oh, by the way, just let me know if you've already got a video for this.

  • @E5Bobby I saw you on gimpchat! That's the perfect place to ask these kind of questions. I'm a bit too busy to be the "gimp helpdesk" all on my own, that's why these forums are there, lots of gimp users to help each other. :)

p.s. Watch my playlist for beginners. I cover most of the beginner stuff like this in those videos.

  • Good news! I re-loaded GIMP and fixed my problem. It turns out that I had those dialogs but not in boxes, only as tabs. I did everything you did in the video and I am very excited. Thank You! My only issue now is that somehow my text changed form Marker SD to something else that doesn't look hand-written. Any idea how that happened?

Thanks again. As I said I'm very excited to explore GIMP!

  • @E5Bobby Glad it works again now. :)

Just change the font back to marker SD. Maybe reloading gimp reset the font.

  • excellent presentation. most helpful for a new gimp user!

  • Great tutorial. I'd like to add, however, that maybe if you used a radial gradient instead of a solid color for the note it would look even more realistic :)

  • Excellent tutorial, GIMPtricks. Thx. Very professional and very clear. Q: Can you pls also dive deeper into the "dodge / burn tool"? You cover it here briefly, but i'd like to see more. I view it as a key tool. b.r., fg

  • Why do you have to create another layer for shadows if GIMP has Filters > Light and Shadow tool?
