Also ment to say, I have the DMC-TZ3 and it records at 840x480, which will fill the youtube back like your video has. So not attempting to make you seem uneducated but just make sure the settings on your camera are set to 720p/1280x720.
Hope this helped

I am unsure as to how it uploads like this and not in HD, but the PIXEL aspect ratio might still be set to square whereas they are supposed to be set to HD, I don't know what it is I think it's 1.77 or something but there is a preset to it. Failing this try put it into a HD video editor like Sony Vegas and render it out as HD and see what it does then.

This looks pretty good.. I just bught this camera, in newest version I think, DMC- TX65.. Have you happened to found the HD quality yet? I tried to record abit, but from what I've heard, people have put it in HD mode, and I'm not sure how to do that. I know this is a year [possibly longer] since you posted, and you've probably found out, but do you have any idea how to put it in HD?

Have you had any luck with your HD videos yet? I've put one up and it's in HQ too. I'm a little perplexed/disappointed...

I honestly just uploaded the clip directly from the camera without any adjustments whatsoever. It seems like its just a crap shoot in how YouTube compresses the clip. I'm still trying to get "HD" quality, but haven't been successful yet!

Yeah, really? With such a brilliant statement, perhaps you could elucidate (that's 'explain')!!!! The cam is set to 16:9 HD, and the actual QuickTime file states it is a true 720p 1280x960. Maybe because the audio is only 8khz (direct from the camera) and not 16 bit/44.1 is why YouTube doesn't present this video "in HD"....That's my deduction... Now give me yours.
