Scanning with VB.NET

This is the result of a learning exercise that I wanted to do.

The idea was to be able to scan both sides of a document into a flat-bed scanner, then have software to automatically extract certain bits of data from the scanned image.

Finally I wanted to be able to export the scanned images into a Microsoft Word file, making sure each side of the document is saved onto its own page of the Word file.

Technical Details

Software written in VB.NET by me
I use Windows Image Acquisition to initiate the scanning
I then use Microsoft Office Document Interface to perform an OCR on the scanned image
Once I have the OCR data, I perform a search for certain keywords and extract the necessary data if found.
Finally I export both images into a Microsoft Word file by using the Microsoft Word Object library

Can I integrate scanning in vb.net without a pop up wizard? It will directly display scan image in the picturebox.

@mryeah07 I am not sure, it used my scanners drivers which gave the popup. There is probably some direct API calls to the drivers that would do it, but its nothing I know how to do :(

I can do OCR on a tiff file, but I can not do OCR on a scanned image!
