The international criminal court's chief prosecutor has requested an arrest warrant for Sudan's defense minister for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in Darfur from 2003 to 2004. According to Luis Moreno Ocampo, Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein was interior minister and the special representative of the president in Darfur at the time of the crimes and was supervising the killings. The Hague-based ICC, the world's top war crimes court, has already issued arrest warrants for Sudanese president Omar Hassan al-Bashir on charges of orchestrating genocide in Sudan's Darfur region. But there have been no attempts to arrest the Sudanese president in the African country's he has visited so far.
