Hard to beat David in 67-68. Incredible stuff...

We all were in a holyland of voices...everyone of the Temptations could sing lead...Melvin has one in bass that jams...for my money, give me Paul Williams, velvet wrapped in sandpaper. What pipes and, he was the dancer in the choreography, they all look to him for cues on the moves...weren't we lucky.

back in the day aint to proud to beg was the pull over song black folks would jump out of their car at the stop light and dance.marvin and david use to complain about having to sing high out of their range.it was once said david put music in an emotional state.i saw him solo once at the old howard theatre in d.c. its still there but they need to fix it up or tear it down.david designed that 4 way mic.there must of been some controversy because they stopped using it hit me back

David Ruffin Cut a few recordings under his own name before joining the Temptations.
THey were released under the short lived Chess Records su label Check-mate Records. It was partally produced by Berry Gordy.
Call me crazy but i wish they would have changed the name to David Ruffin & The Temptations.

I loved the Temptations. One of the great things about this group is that everyone could and did lead. There was no need to give one person top billing. That only breaks up groups. Look at what it did to the Supremes.
