Mark Felt was anything, but a hero. He had an axe to grind because President Nixon passed him up on a promotion as FBI Director. Obviously, John Dean would praise Felt, though. After all, nobody knows a rat better than a rat.

Yeah and he still did the right thing. I don't understand why you people hate him for that.
-
If he feared for his life then he was indeed a coward. If someone does something brave for their country, they don't cower in fear. Case closed. He lived the life he deserved.
-
So revealing a illegal cover up was bad? And fearing for his life was bad also?

It takes one to know one.

Oh, I can't tell you that. No, I have to do this my way. You tell me what you know and I'll confirm. I'll keep you in the right direction if I can. But that's all. Just... follow the...watergate videos.
MKL, what he did wasn't treasonous, but it was unethical. If he had knowledge of criminal activities, it was his legal obligation to inform the police, not to go to the press. It appears his key motive was vengeance against Nixon for not appointing him head of the FBI. Nixon, for his part, knew that Felt leaked info against him, but still testified on Felt's behalf in the early 80's, when Felt was convicted of a felony.

It's going to be interesting to see how history will remember Mark Felt. Some say that he did the right thing by outing President Richard Nixon. Some feel that he commited an act of treason. What do you all think? Please reply.
