  • The torture of detainees is a fact. They admit and approve of water boarding. So what is it that people find hard to believe? The torture is not a myth the evidence is everywhere if you care to look.

  • Good book: Cia Torture Taxi.

  • REAL INJUSTICE

  • Umm.. has this women ever read the Uniform Code of Military Justice to see what rules those who protect her live under?

does she understand the Penalty for Desertion by U.S. Soldiers and Sailors?

  • Ask Andrea Mitchell and Alan Greenspan what it feels like to being followed and wiretapped.

  • Much of what is presented in Ms Mayer's book may be true, the problem is I don't get the sense (from the excerpts I've read) she's being completely objective. I'm not some sort of YouTube troll, just a citizen looking for untainted reporting, especially on war issues. We have a tragic, pointless war going on right now because 6 years ago we did NOT have honesty and integrity from the media. Their job is to FACT FIND. Among other things, this requires credible, proven & named sources.

  • Dear previous commenters: Actually I'm not a right winger, or as I said, a Bush fan. I never said I read the book. I did read a synopsis of the book and several reviews as well as Frank Rich's NYT article, and my feeling-- my instinct-- is that Ms. Mayer is not an objective reporter & writer, but someone who's written a book that builds on, or perhaps sensationalizes, a general view that's already got quite a large group of ready believers. That's my problem with her.

  • This smacks of a talking point. Why does writing a book about the Bush Administration and torture obligate someone to give donations to veterans and refugees?

  • Why help veterans?
