Traditional folk song, given a very English treatment from an Irish source.
The tune and text come from Robert Cinnamond of Co Antrim, but the style is pure East Anglian pub session. Suffolk and Norfolk still have such places and the licencing officers haven't found us yet! This is one of the songs that gets them all singing.
Mary Humphreys - vocal; Anahata - 1 row Hohner melodeon in C, chorus

  • @ctrmaasdijk Mary says:

There is no music written down for it. I adapted it from one I heard a

long time ago by Robert Cinnamond (an old singer from County Antrim in

Northern Ireland ) but which is no longer available on recordings.

If you want a CD with it on we have one on our website where you

can buy it online. (find our names with Google)

I am so glad you like the song. I enjoy singing it. I can send you the

words I sing, if you like.

  • Hi mary

I've searched the internet and found the words and some of the notes ... maybe I'm going to translate in Dutch because that's what I usually do ... beautiful music ... nice texts to use this whit the same passion to sing .... like you do ! Thanks for the quick response ... I'll see how far I get but it's no rush.

I will remember your website !
