This is a video project I compiled for a grade eight human geography assignment. The assignment is intended to be a short slideshow using a maximum of four still pictures and music to generate awareness for the plight of child soldiers in Uganda.

Many children are taken away from their families and the safety of their villages and forced to fight for the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). Often, they are forced to commit horrendous acts towards their families so that they will not be accepted if they run back home. To avoid being captured by the LRA, these kids walk many kilometres in the dead of night to larger urban areas like Gulu. They will spend the night in crowded shelters only to return to their rural villages at the crack of dawn so that they can attend school or work on the family farm.

In July 2005 two Canadians, Adrian Bradbury and Kieran Hayward participated in the first GuluWalk. To raise awareness for the night commute of Ugandan children, they hiked over twelve kilometres every night in July and slept in front of Toronto City Hall to support their cause. Today, GuluWalk is a major multinational event receiving financial backing from several large charities.
