Labs are one of the most loyal breeds (collies also) that you can have. They are a friend. When they decide "I love you" that's it. Game over. They will follow you anywhere, they will listen to any command, and they will give your life. My Dog (collie/spanial mix) recently gave his life protecting my 6 year old niece and myself when 2 men rushed us while we were taking him for a walk. He bit one of them, the other one shot him. He lost his life protecting his family. Thumbs up for loyal dogs

@kjjmac, obviously you don't know what your talking about if you think this dog wasn't loving every bit of the attention this little boy was giving to him, why else would he have followed him every where he went? He could easily have walked away from him. If you don't know what you are talking about kjjmac then dont comment on the video, thanks for making a perfectly innocent video platform against animal abuse.

@randomx19: I just watched this touching video "Can't Smile Without You", with the awesome lab loving all the rough attention given to him by the little toddler. When I read your post, I almost cried. I'm so sorry your loving, courageous and loyal dog died saving your and your niece's life! I hope he didn't suffer after he got shot, and that he died immediately. Anyway, I believe God loves dogs so much to give them to us to love and be loved, how can there not be dogs in heaven?

While this was a very cute video many dogs are not this tolerate and may bite if put in similar situations. You Tube should withdraw this video because it gives the wrong message. Also a child should not climb on a dog's back because it can cause spine problems and some may bite if a child gets on its back. Also a child should never be left alone with a dog no matter how good the dog is.
