dig a shallow well.Part two of well digging saga. Got the hole cleared of all the mud that got washed back in from the storms we had. Used a trash pump that I rented in bossier city and that made it possible to go all the way to 16 feet. That gives me 8 feet of useable water. Got the casing in,filled the gap between the 8 inch pipe and 4 inch casing with pea gravel and filled the remainder with the mud I pulled out with the auger. Installed my pump and drop pipe and pumped water till my arm hurt. Tomorrow I'll get some bags of concrete and make a nice apron at the base of the pump casing and pour a column around it up to the base of the pump with some bolts set into the concrete to hold the pump down tight.

  • nice job what was the cost of the well

  • @001bear1 ohhhhhhh,,,,, probably less than 300 bucks counting the trash pump rental. if i didnt have the monsoon come thru while i was digging it,i wouldnt have had to rent the trash pump.

  • @bctruck i thought you were going to stick to your budget of 200.00

  • @homemadejobee well if you actually watched the video, you would know why that wasnt possible. are you suggesting i should have abandoned the project when i reached 200 bucks?

  • Great video..I just started digging with the same setup 'Im around the sam rayburn area in Texas.I hope I can dig deeper after I hit water or I'll have to buy a drive point to get deeper in the water table. Great job on yours! I am at five feet,I started about an hour before dark today,or yesterday..I am in hard clay an the going is slow but steady. I hope to go another five feet tomorrow 'that clay wears me out'..Thanks for the video on this it helped me in forming my shallow well game plan!!

  • @SanEverett let know how you do.curious how deep you have to go to hit water. clay is definately hard to auger your way through.youll probably hit sand next. its much easier to go through but much less stays in the auger while you pull it up. good luck!

  • Amazing video. We have a couple of the old tall hand pumps, and an electric well here on the farm. It's nice to learn how a hand pumped well actually works, because you never know, one day it may be a necessity again.

  • i wish i was ur neighbor! i would do all the grunt work just to learn from u, u r awesome for taking the time to share ur videos

  • @bctruck Thanks. I went another two and half feet today. I scooped out a lot of water in the hole. We've been having a lot of rain lately. But I only turned on it for an hour, had to go to work an all.I started into some sand mixed in the clay right before I left. And the water in the hole definitely helped! I notice the feel of it is different in sand when your turning I'm sure you noticed too..

I don't live on this land yet so its a bit of a drive..Will keep ya posted, thanks sir!

  • @kc88kc yep! love my 18 volt dewalts!!! i bleed yellow.

  • @koyinj thanks for the kind words. ive been putting lots more effort into my later vids. i have an awesome camera and a tripod now and im even trying to cut back on my "rambling" as some have put it. anyway, thanks again for the kind words and im doing my best to make my vids a bit more proffesional and easier to watch.

  • What a great job and educational video, well done Sir.

  • @kc88kc maneiro

  • how cool

  • your a dewalt fan hahahah saw like 20 dewalts in the back

  • @luvintherawlife ive seen id done with water jetting and it appears as though it would require far less muscle and burn far fewer calories.

  • I manage a rental store, and we have that exact same 2" pump for 50 bucks a day. Too bad you had to pay out the nose for that thing.

  • That must be a great feeling when you get your first water out, you have inspired me to do the same. Thanks

  • Right on, you achieved water. I hope in the near future to be drilling a well on our property to reach that same security you now have!...I just hope it's as easy as you made it look. Thank you for the insight.

  • using PVC in any water application actually increases your BPH intake horribly. most plastics & poly's emit BPH. everyone should know about plastic poisons since it's in everything

  • @bctruck alrighty! Thank you very very much!! :)

  • @armystrong9997 you would not want to drill in an area that was prone to runoff from a contaminated area. you would not want to drill in an area that was near a ceptic system or any other form of contamination. otherwise you can drill any where unless you encounter very rocky soil. then you would need to try water jetting or a drill bit.

  • @bctruck wow thank you for your very very quick response, and thank you very much you have cleared up my confusion, but i have one more question, can you drill anywere?

  • @armystrong9997 yes.pump it till it clears up and yes it is fresh water. ive already drank from it.
