Join us for a look around Arundel Castle in the south of England.

Some notes:

Arundel Castle in Arundel, West Sussex, England is a restored medieval castle. It was founded by Roger de Montgomery on Christmas Day 1067. Roger became the first to hold the earldom of Arundel by the graces of William the Conqueror. The castle was damaged in the English Civil War and then restored in the 18th and 19th centuries.

From the 11th century onward, the castle has served as a hereditary stately home and has been in the family of the Duke of Norfolk for over 400 years. It is still the principal seat of the Norfolk family. It is a Grade I listed building.

  • Such a nice place! I assume some of the rooms in the castle are closed for visitors, as it's still a residential place, yes?

  • @sammysaywhat49 You are welcome, that makes you almost a royal!

  • I recently found out that I am a direct descendant of Roger de Montgomery, the first earl of Arundel. This place looks so interesting and beautiful. I must see it someday. Thanks for posting this!

  • @binkydonna It is not a name I have heard of but it is certainly possible it originated from the name Arundell - both the words Dell and Dale mean valley and often changes in spelling happen naturally over the years. I would google it and see what you come up with:)
