The Ektachrome does look different. I got me last two rolls of Kodachrome processed at Dwyane's last month. It was truly magical stuff. I guess we'll have to find a suitable replacement.

nice. thank you for letting me know that, I didn't even think walmart would be doing that. and if the ones around my area don't process that stuff maybe I can at least pick up some rolls there. thanks.

This is very nice, the funny thing is that ektachrome almost does not look like super 8 anymore.

I can't believe walmart processes super 8. was this processed at walmart.

Yeah, Walmart did the processing for this reel and everything else I have up here that's Super 8. I just picked up 4 rolls from Walmart yesterday ($4.88 per roll). Walmart contracts with FujiColor who has a contract with Dwyane's Photo in KS to do the Super 8 processing for them. You'll notice some scratches in this reel. It wasn't the processing but me being stupid and playing it in a cheap projector before I had the MovieStuff Telecine unit.

how do you do that at 1:53 the burn. can you do that on purpose? if you take out the film from the camera will you get that effect? and then put it back in. please help

Yes, take the cartridge out of the camera and you will get the overexposed "burn" on the negative seen at 1:53. The day I shot this I was having issues with the cartridge and had to take it out of the camera several times. Good luck with your shooting!

awesome footage and love those burns between takes, is it possible to mix the film speeds on one roll of film ie: can I shoot some 18fps then some 24fps or do I need to shoot at the same speed on the roll.

Yeah, you can mix up different frame rates on the same 8mm cartridge. This clip was shot primarily in 18fps except for the slow motion stuff which was shot at 54fps. When it's all projected/captured at 18fps the 54fps segments look slow. Telecine is the key here, once you have it in the computer, you can do whatever you want with it. BTW - WalMart still processes Super 8 movie film for $6.88 per roll. That's under $20 for film and processing to get a classic look.
