History has come full circle. In nature everything has its time and place, so it is with the the Warasw Village Band- everything rises from natural harmony and regularity.
August of that year saw the arrival of a second child for Maja Kleszcz and Wojtek Krzak. Therefore, they had to spend time, attention and activity on the family.
After a year of parental leave, the known, loved and valued returned to the fold- Sylwia Swiatkowska - violinist, fidelist and vocalist, and Magda Sobczak - Kotnarowska - dulcimer and vocalist. Between 2000 -2008, with Magda and Sylwia on board, the band completed its longest and most exotic tours, recorded four records and won top awards from, amongst others, BBC3 Radio, EBU and Polish Radio.
The band has been joined in earnest Pawel Mazurczak - a phenomenal bass player, known for rock and jazz scene. Seconded the violin and sings Eve Wałecka - from an early age linked to ethnic and classical music. Phenomenal, talented and young - he represents the second generation (how time flies) of WVB musicians, formerly a fan of the band as a teenager.
The veterans of the band remain unchanged - Piotr Glinski - drummer, teacher, experimenter and avant-gardist, thanks to whom traditional Polish drums are experiencing a renaissance, and Maciej Szajkowski - percussionist, founder and originator of the Warsaw Village Band.
The implementation of sound remains the responsibility of Mario Activator- the best live sound engineer, dub master and sound studio maker. He has been invited to work with leading musicians and producers from around the world including Zion Train, Mad Professor and Adrian Sherwood from the On U Sound.
A concert band, WVB returns to the best proven method of collective play. The power of WVB's music lies primarily in the discovery of archaic folk themes. The atavistic and mystical nature of the universal and timeless message and also in the community meaning and experience of live music.
The musicians are already working on a new repertoire. New themes will appear for upcoming concerts. The team also has plans to work with several artists from the across the world and to record live CDs. Thus, Ladies and Gentlemen - watch closely for WVB action and keep your fingers crossed. Until the next time!
