Dont quote me but I know the military has developed a new cartridge(silver tipped) thats suppose to replace the m855, Im not sure if its already being fielded. If it is then the military will definitely liquidate their supply of m855. So this could by why even walmarts selling this stuff. good deal with the can and stripper clips. I gotta check my walmart!

@RingSight91 - ways around using hollowpoint ammo. Call it what you want, its still a bullet with a hollow tip. Its just made to frag instead of expand, with a solid copper rear penetrator.

Dicks Sporting Goods in western Pennsylvania also carries this type. Your correct, it is a good buy.

The guy was asking if these green-tips were some sort of JHPs (jacketed hollow points). If the MK318 is an open-tip boattail match round then it's still not a JHP.

@biggboysouth - its not a silver tip, more of a bronze color. Its the M855A1. The military can not sell surplus ammo on the civillian market, so there wont be any "liquidation" of M855. Also, they aren't stopping production of M855, its still going to be used for the time being.

@timmy101able No such thing as a green-tipped JHP. Says right there on the box that these are military-spec "ball" ammunition, model designated "XM855". It's not a cap but merely paint which is specific to the M855. JHPs are forbidden under the articles of the laws of war like the Geneva Conventions. This ammo was developed for the M16A2. The rest you can look-up.

The last one is always a sign you're supposed to have it. Been my experience, haven't bought one bad "last one" product yet.
