This is the fourth episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and also the first episode known to be recorded by a fan. It aired on KTMA on December 4, 1988. Crow is voiced by Trace Beaulieu and Servo is voiced by Josh "J. Elvis" Weinstein.

@bradster23420 I've heard that the cast, as a whole, isn't really happy with these very early episodes and doesn't mind them not being released. They certainly are a lot rougher than even season 1. ...but I'll bet that copyright issues is a huge problem.

After KTMA went under, MST3K moved to the Comedy Channel/Comedy Central and then later to the SciFi channel. So the show moved three times and the station that created it has changed owners three times, so when it comes to these early episodes figuring out who owns what is likely a nightmare. They had a similar problem with the 60's TV show "Get Smart", the first four seasons were with NBC, then it moved to CBS for season 5, so the fifth season remained off the air for almost 40 years.

With regard to why no one has released copies of the MST3K episodes from the KTMA period I believe I have a partial explaination. While looking up this episode on wikipedia I got sidetracked and looked up KTMA, in short KTMA no longer exists. The owners at the time MST3K was on the air went bankrupt in 1989 and the station has changed ownership three times since then, it's now known as WUCW and is a CW network station. The explaination of why probably lies there.

@wattamack4 yea exactly, the copyrights to the films they were riffin. Im not sure if they expired or revoked or what, also not sure if it was only some or all of the films, but i do know now that you mentioned his name i cant get that damn song out of my head, lol.  "Sandy Frank!"

@bradster23420: By copyright issues, do you mean like the films they riffed on during those shows? I can understand when it comes to the Sandy Frank films, but surely not ALL those films they riffed on have rights issues like those 2 Stingray films.
