I have to see this film because it depicts what i've been saying for years that Detroit is not becoming like the rest of America, it's the exact opposite effect. Many cities in the future will look like ours if they dont pay attention to what has happened here. Believe it!!1

Pretty sad that all that scrap creates a huge Carbon Footprint to ship it to China and then ship back as products. The Pollution isn't worth the few dollars saved from the cheap imported items.

Sorry for the Packard Plant typo, it employed about 26'000, not the 6000 I posted. Packard actually was ahead of the other makers because they had a employee walk-out around 1942 just because Packard promoted 3 black males to the Assembly Line work and the UAW White workers didn't want to work next to them. There's lots of blame to toss around for Det's problems.

Detroit just had a year of homicides close to 55 per 100K population. Chicago hit about 505 with 2.7 million people while Det sits at about 700'000 population. Sad that the City was once around 1.7 million and the car was king from MoTown.

What kinda lala land you living in lady? Detroit has been one of the most dangerous and corrupt places in the U.S. for more than 3 decades. It once was a great place, but with all the crooked politicians and cops running the show there is no chance for Detroit. Love and truth? You need to come here and see whats going on and get a glimpse of reality.

Hahahaha most intelligent words I've seen on youtube in months. People are to stupid to do any of the things you said. Blaming is all they know how to do... I like your ambition but there is not enough people like you out there my man.

BTW,all those new Foreign auto plants will soon experience Retirees that will add a new cost to each car.FORD stands a good chance to keep their market share as the imports see retirement expenses climb for 25+ year workers. If only Detriot suddenly found Oil deposits to extratc and ship by rail.

Part 2 Even today we have companies with a consumer base that wants something new every few years while the manufacturing wage goes lower/uses fewer humans to assemble/design.Detriot needs to give-up on returning to the days of the Packard Plant that employed about 6000 people. With all those miles of railways tracks, there has got to be some business from exploiting rail service. A new gas-Turbine train is cheaper to run, maybe a Tourism angle and convert the plants to amusement/retail spots.

The bean-counters in many of these auto Board rooms had no foresight to see the size of the consumer base and its market saturation. In every Qt the profits were skimmed-off and paid out with little concern for re-investment to grow with technology and stay popular. 1958 was the death-nail for the satified buyers from previous years, so that was when we saw the slow death of Studebaker, AMC , Desoto and so on. The country sides are littered with auto grave yards post WW2 to the 1970's.
