GASLAND - (2010) Directed by Josh Fox. Winner of Special Jury Prize - Best US Documentary Feature - Sundance 2010. Screening at Cannes 2010.

It is happening all across America and now in Europe and Africa as well - rural landowners wake up one day to find a lucrative offer from a multinational energy conglomerate wanting to lease their property. The Reason? In America, the company hopes to tap into a huge natural gas reservoir dubbed the Saudi Arabia of natural gas. Halliburton developed a way to get the gas out of the ground—a hydraulic drilling process called fracking—and suddenly America finds itself on the precipice of becoming an energy superpower.

But what comes out of the ground with that natural gas? How does it affect our air and drinking water? GASLAND is a powerful personal documentary that confronts these questions with spirit, strength, and a sense of humor. When filmmaker Josh Fox receives his cash offer in the mail, he travels across 32 states to meet other rural residents on the front lines of fracking. He discovers toxic streams, ruined aquifers, dying livestock, brutal illnesses, and kitchen sinks that burst into flame. He learns that all water is connected and perhaps some things are more valuable than money.

  • you know that something is wrong when your tab of water expels fire

  • @tipuppy2011 How are they anti American when they are trying to care for people's health and the beautiful American landscape? Your disconnect to reality is so great. Its sad. Like you've been brainwashed.

  • So, let me get this straight. Nuclear power expels clean water and water vapor, has the lowest death rate per TWH of all major energy sources, and has its toxic waste locked up in absurdly strong containers. Yet it has massive crowds protesting it commonly. Natural gas has 100 times the death rate, contaminates water and spews chemicals over the ground. Pray tell where are the giant crowds?

  • @HalcyonicRepose

Actually, I meant NWO, not OWS, there's too many acronyms, aargh!

  • @organboi

What is the source of your info, and save me some time!

Forcing very toxic chemicals into the ground under pressure (to get the gas out) SOUNDS like a bad idea (and it conceivable that it affects the ground water), but I'm open-minded, direct me to the proof that it is a hoax please.

No vague OWS conspiracies please, and I hope the UFOs ain't involved!

(BTW, I'm a real person, I hope you are too.)

  • I just read a highly accurate account on how this film is not factually reliable. This film sounds like a hoax to support the EPA, which in turn supports reliance on foreign oil. The entire US/World government is corrupt, and films like this support the propaganda used to enslave the masses. I read that the methane coming out of the faucet was total bullshit, and that was not the fault of the drilling. Do the research on your own, people.

  • again with the video game soundtracks. they all use this shit music now. in every trailer, in every youtube vid. why can't they just let the content speak for itself instead of blasting with that awful "music?'

  • To everyone out there if you watch this and honestly believe everything you see you are an idiot, I work as a landman in the oil & gas sector of the economy and yes there have been incidents but this film takes everything extremely out of context. So do some research in addition to this but do not just rely on a one-sided documentary to form your views.

  • We destroyed everything in Syberia to get some oil .Nobody cares about it.Greetngs from Russia!

  • a duke university study called "Methane contamination of drinking water accompanying gas-well drilling and hydraulic fracturing" supports that at the very least these thing happen more around these sites and we should look into why.

  • I suppose it's possible to exploit the resources or use them wisely, /watch?v=P9M__yYbsZ4

  • If Halliburton and other natural gas companies thinks that this type of energy is okay, I want the executives and politicians who support this to move next to the drill sites. PROVE THAT ITS JUST FINE. You drink the water, you watch your pets and children get sick.
