In this, Max's First M11 Draft ever, he tries to stay within the comfort zone of deck archetypes and slides into W/U flyers. His deck ends up being an aggro/control affair that wants to go first, smash in with early flyers, bolster the offense mid-game with Serra Angel*, Conundrum Sphinx, and Air Servant, and then hold the fort with Cancel, Wall of Frost*, Blinding Mage*, and Condemn (the starred cards were each picked over a Doom Blade).

  • Omg, why did he choose that Foresee card over the one in the lower left corner, it's like 3 mana cheaper and has Scry 2 and then draw a card, alot better in my opinion.

  • @maard003 - I assume you are joking, but just in case you aren't I will set the record straight: Forsee is approximately one million times better than Preordain in limited (Its a classic example of twice the effect but still just one card, which is sick in limited where cards are king. Remember Kiss of the Amesha?). I think you are confusing limited and constructed.

  • @hubrisarts Okay, i see. I bet you know alot more about that than i do. I really like your vids though!

  • @maard003 - Thanks! Definitely keep card advantage in mind while playing limited. If you can get the same effect with less cards, generally that is a good thing. Some very aggressive decks would prefer Preordain, but I like to build control decks, as they make me feel like I can direct the flow of games and rely on my ability to out-play my opponents over a long battle.

  • I stand by my Terramorphic Expanse pick. This pick was still in pack 1, and flexibility is still really important in pack 1. Having the Terramorphic Expanse was an important factor in packs 2 and 3 which made many picks, including several doom blades, much closer than they would have been otherwise. Ice Cage is only correct in hindsight once you know that I was U/W (example: this same pick in pack 3 would have been the Ice Cage, as you say).

  • @VariableGear Conundrum sphinx the best card pack 1, Pacifism pack 2, you are now UW

  • @hubrisarts You went U/W from the very start of the draft.

  • Duress, terrible splash, you wanna hit them with it turn 1,not turn 10 when you get a swamp

  • @Krimzj This is just plain wrong. Of his 3 picks...every one of them says U/W midrange/control and forsee also has direct synergy with his bomb...Pegasus would only be the pick if he already had around six 2-3 drops and an inspired charge. Otherwise Forsee will just be better. You don't(shouldn't get Forsee's after pick 3 maybe 4...stormfont can reasonably go through midpack; as clearly shown when he nextpicked stormfront.

  • stormfront > forsee in the style deck you went for. I would have taken that stormfront

  • thats ridiculous, armored ascencion that late is stupid
