Senate Bill 6: * is a 38 section bill that replaces local control of education with a one-size-fits-all mentality directed by Tallahassee. * increases property taxes on homeowners if a school district pays teachers for advanced degrees. * mandates MORE TESTING of students and end of the year exams in all subjects. * the National Board Certification program will be abolished. * requires that teachers will be paid due to their students test scores. * will drive new teachers away with a 5 year probationary period during which time they can be fired at will. * will remove class size requirements for individual classes.

Why are teachers against standardized test scores? I think we NEED tests to make sure that students are not falling behind. How would you feel about going to a surgeon who was not TESTED to make sure that he/she knows the basics?

It's not about Testing....They are going to only pay  half their salary and the other half is paid only if the students test well. Like your Doctor only getting paid half of his fee for not curing someones disease. Why don't they have the Politicians get paid the same way?......Never happen...LOL

I don't know what people mean when they say parents and students aren't held accountable. If a student doesn't do well in school, they're going to suffer with low pay their entire life. Parents, presumably, care whether their child is going to be living in poverty or not. (If they don't, I think it's child services' responsibility to get the kid away from that parent, not the school systems.)
