Old strings or neck needs a re-set.
Been playing 12-string for 30 years and never had that much trouble tuning one. ;-)

maan buy guitar tuner it's maybe 10 dolars, and you can tune it in less than a minute, i bought one and I'm very satisfied. If you replace strings without it, its a god damn nightmare and brain disease :)

Ive been playing 6 strings forever, just got a 12 and I feel your pain dude. I tune it by ear and its close but...I dont even mess with it, just grab the tuner, in the end its faster that way.
