The YMCA of Middle Tennessee's HOPE FOR LIFE initiative has four key components: Inspiring Youth, Improving Health, Creating Community & Serving Others.
The Urban Services Youth Development Center (USYDC) exists to bring hope and inspire youth from underserved communities in Middle Tennessee.
We do this through holistic programming targeting three core developmental needs facing our youth:
• Academic and Life Skills Development
• College and Career Preparation
• Leadership and Employment Skills Development
Core Programs Include:
Black Achievers: Group mentoring program where African-American role models provide comprehensive college preparation and career planning assistance to youth in grades 7-12.
Preston Taylor Boys & Girls Club / YMCA Youth Development Center: Providing life skills, educational and athletic learning opportunities year-round to youth in the Preston Taylor community from K-12th grade.
The Bridge: Academic enrichment program, taught by college students, for bright 12-18 year-old students from East Nashville.
Step Up / Lil' Sisters / Buffalo Soldiers: Gender-specific programs focusing on pregnancy prevention and increasing healthy lifestyle choices in young people age 10-14.
SEAL Team: (Students Educating Active Leaders) Peer education program focusing on helping youth ages 11-18 make wise decisions about their health and future through the arts.
Time to Rise: Academic enrichment program for students entering grades 4-6; offered in partnership with local private schools.
Y-Build/Youthbuild : A 9-month residential program providing young men from urban environments, training in the construction industry, job placement, character & leadership development and life skills development.
YMCA MedCorps / MedPrep: Empowering young women through personal development and professional training for those interested in career in the healthcare industry.
Urban Services School of Academics and Athletics (USSAA): Helping more than 150 middle and high school students reach their full potential academically and athletically through systematic tutoring and life coaching.
YMCA Center for Civic Engagement: is a statewide leadership development program designed to allow students ages 11-19 to experience the processes of government in a hands-on way.
Y-Serve: Engaging Y-members, caring adults, & students from local colleges and universities to serve as tutors, mentors, and volunteers with our diverse community service projects & short-term programming.
Building Futures Mentoring Program: A nationally recognized mentoring program designed to bring positive life transformation in the lives of 150 underserved young people through individualized mentor relationships.
Y-Latino Achievers: Engaging young people in the Latino community through spiritual, health, and academic education and mentoring.
Y-CAP: a Christ centered outreach program of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, serves at-risk youth in East Nashville one heart, one mind and one spirit at a time.

outstanding video and services and programs offered. A true model for all YMCA centers around the country. Keep up the good work. I will look into the programs that the YMCA in Greenville, SC offers and see what difference I can make.
