The Skokomish river floods every year thanks to all the logging. 90% of the water shed has been logged. A lot of these salmon get stranded when the water receeds. Simpson akd Green Diamond, cut down most of the tree in the Skok watershed under the "100 year sustained yield" contract. But they did it in just 40 years time and then cancelled the contract and laid off all the workers.

  • Actually they did cut down pretty much all the trees in the Skokomish watershed at one time.

  • Yes a big flood the river cresed at 19.2 feet and that is a record for that river. It is the Skokomish River near the Hood Canal in Washington. It floods because of damage caused by logging.

  • That footage made it to regional television, didn't it? I sure seem to recall seeing it. Or perhaps it just looks similar. Sadly, I imagine there were a goodly number of opportunities to capture footage like that during the flood. :-(
