Demonstrating how a non-booting Evesham 8615 laptop can be temporarily brought back to life, using what I call the hair-drier trick. If you have a laptop in this state, you can at least determine that the screen and everything else is working. If you know someone with a BGA (Ball Grid Array) rework station, you can get it fixed.

  • its a piece of shit... who would want to fix it

  • I must admit, I wouldn't go for that make and model, especially as the company doesn't even exist anymore. Someone bought it on ebay a week or so after, but just to use the screen. The demo at least proved the screen was okay. Anything like that is not economical to repair, but good for spare bits. Unless it's something like a Sony Vaio or a Dell XPS or decent dual core machine by one of the big names, I tend to flog stuff like this for spares only.
