You realize flying a 45 degree entry isn't mandatory right? You can land basically any way you want. The FAA gives suggestions as to how to enter a trafic pattern and the 45 entry is the safest way to do so. But you could land straight in if you wanted to. You don't even need radios.

Can I ask way you entered from the right side and didn't fly a 45 to left downwind to 29 ?
