I love the work of Ricky Gervais in television and as a stand up comedian so I watched this film when shown on TV. Wow was I disappointed - it has to be one of the worst films ever made. The whole thing is rubbish from start to finish. What a waste of talent.

Ricky has sold out to the American public. He's a victim of his own success and his huge ego. Flyin too close to the gods, his wings have melted and now the inexorable plummet to earth. He can't top the Office.

It's good for what it is but the original is just that... The original and endlessly better, more realistic, naturalistic and funny. On so many levels.

So I just think it's good to watch the original first :P

Yeah well if you haven't seen the US version - I urge you to watch the UK first.

It's the original and easily the best. I'm not taking anything away from the US version, they've done a good job.

But you need to know Brent first :) the US version will pale in comparison after that. Still good though.
