I've been playing BF2 since 2005, and I still find the game horribly unbalanced in the flying-part of this game.
The rest is pretty well balanced. Just avoid the jet-maps. You will get spawnraped again and again by jetpilots with high ranks who fly 24/7 and think they are 'skillful' with the most overpowered thing in the whole game.
And yes, you have AA and other jets to counter that, but certain jet-types in this game are just too overpowered beyond limits.

no offence but those J-10 pilots suck but how do you make the missiles so good?

Yeah, they do. They were mostly Captains and above too, but it was all from one game, or maybe two. - Just by firing them at the right time.
