I'm not suggesting they are commiting fraud, they just know how to work the system which should be altered to help those who are in real need. I think we both want the same thing but the current government only seems to reward those with no intention of helping themselves, while we all pay for their political mistakes.

Housing is only part of the problem. Until something is done about the generations of people who have never worked and are living in 'poverty' at my expense, everyone who works for a living will continue to pay for them to exist. I do however feel for young people who could contribute to society but often don't get the chance due to their circumstances and they are often too honest to claim for non existent 'disability / incapacity' benefits, like the hardcore.

Our housing is dangerous and badly maintained by the housing association who took it over and put up the rents.
The local newspaper are only interested in the middle class people, if one of them dies there is a big deal made out of it and if it is one of our neighbours they don't care and it gets a tiny section of news.
I filmed all the problems and still they are not interested. We don't need luxury only basic safe housing that will meet our childrens needs.

wow! it's about time you started to invest some of the donations you have received into the course you are fighting. The UK has the fastest growing POVERTY rates in Europe, so much so, that the voices of those most vulnerable in society are insignificant. Also against a Government ideology of type casting such people as scum, which of course is easier then addressing the real issues. Best of luck to Shelter and such like, I am sure you can make loads of dosh with POVERTY issues in the UK.
I know a guy who has four kids with non existent 'syndromes', a wife with a compulsive spending disorder seven dogs, five cats and a menagerie of other aimals and they get approx. £48,000 in benefits per year, PLUS a house to live in.
They have never worked and are proud of the fact. Why should they? they earn more than my wife and I and are not brutally taxed on their income. Their house could (once sterilised) house a vulnerable family who would be grateful - How many more like this ? ?

Hi pondguru. Just to be clear, the majority of people in bad housing are in a position where because of their circumstances they live in poor conditions - and this is beyond their control. If you believe you know someone committing benefit fraud, I suggest you report them. Shelter works to house people who have lost their homes, and to improve living conditions in this country (which in some areas are still Dickensian). You seem to have noticed the exception, not the rule
