This National Anthem montage was used in several TV stations when they signed off/on. I remember seeing this on my local stations KCOP and KABC in the early-mid 80s. Note that the Star Spangled Banner is performed on a Moog Synthesizer with brass horns. Please forgive the poor quality of this! I will re-post this clip once I find a better version.

  • I.I.R.C., this Moog SSB film was used by KDNL (Channel 30, St. Louis MO) in the mid-1970s.

There's a better quality version of this clip on YouTube [KFSM (Channel 5, Ft. Smith AR) Sign-Off 1983].

  • Yes, and also one from in the KABC-TV sign-off is posted here, too.

This is a very very clean version of the Moog SSB that I think we all have been waiting for. I guess they considered this a PSA back in the 70s when it was produced. Anyone know what year this was made?

  • There's one station when I first saw the Moog-version of the SSB: WBFF-TV Ch. 45 (Baltimore, Md.). It ran from mid 1977 to late 1982. We would love to see it brought back in High Definition soon.

  • I remember this version on Souther Command Network (SCN) in Panama during the 1970s.

  • Sadly none of the station here in Harrisburg, PA every used this version of the SSB at sign off sign on in the 70s and 80s. I heard this verision on here about a year ago.

  • @dnm728 WYES-TV Channel 12 in New Orleans used it for both sign on and sign off for several years as well.

  • while stationed at ft campbell ky ver 2 was used before every movie played

  • It was also used for a time on WATE 6 during the 80's.

  • This was used as WSJK's signoff in the '80s.

  • Terry, I hope they will used that as part of a final signoff in analog TV history once it goes away, it will turn into snowy picture. That's going be a big change starting tomorrow wherever you're in the LA area watching KABC, they will show the "Moog SSB" film one last time before it goes away, KABC will be digital only for now.

    RIP: Analog TV (1948-2009) :-(

  • Beautiful music, it made going to bed for me as a kid a more pleasurable event.
