Peace,
The link above will send you to my blog, where I go more in depth about the power of knowledge and why I think it's so important for us as the younger generation (i.e. future leaders) to develop a familiarity with the life-skill called reading and personal study.
I've come to create this saying (remember where you heard it first) that goes: "Reading FUNDS the mental," because I look at it as a deposit into the bank account of your intelligence, which is a form of wealth no different then any other. In fact, T. Harv Eker in his "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind" builds on how wealthy people have a habit of educating themselves throughout their entire lives, and Eben Pagan says the same in his "Self-Made Wealth" program.
I think one of the biggest challenges today is being able to navigate your way through information overload in this digital age (which we also built on in the actual lecture this clip is from). It's very easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of data circulating the world wide web nowadays, and I think the best way to handle that is to have certain note-taking and archiving techniques (mind-mapping, GTD applied to a learning plan specifically) as well as an ability to FOCUS ON ONE THING AT A TIME and break information down into easy, manageable chunks.
In the "Recommended Scrolls" series, we built on maaaad books, including:
"Radical Honesty" by Brad Blanton
"Yurugu: An African Centered Critique of European Cultural Thought & Behavior" by Marimba Ani
"Aesop's Fables" (don't sleep... this joint is DEEP. Especially when you come back to it with a more mature mind/)
"Bruce Lee: Artist of Life" (forget the author)
"The Hidden Spirituality of Men" by Matthew Fox,
and much more.
But essentially, reading (and personal research in general, Self-Education) is definitely a fundamental for mind-elevation, and with this series, we just want to make it easier for others to tread along that path...
Look for more episodes soon...
Peace,
+B
