  • Hey HojoNorem!

Saw you're now following the videos, hopefully I'll have some more to post at some stage so I don't keep you waiting too long ;-)

I haven't added analog thruster control yet. I don't know if for the main game it would necessarily be the mechanic I was looking for. Seems interesting to experiment with, though. Tthe yaw stick's Y axis could be used for thruster with a small amount of extra code.

  • It certainly adds a bit of anew twist to a old concept. I guess Psygnosis didn't didn't expect that anybody would use an analogue throttle to in their game but they added it in anyway and I'm glad they did. One of the reasons I'm still going back to that game over and over again.

Heck, I once had a Lander netgame with somebody (over in Australia I think, the lag was terrible) and he was using a Nintendo Powerglove to control his lander! Crazy...

When you get a Win binary ready count me in!

  • OK, I'll try and take a look at the throttle then. I can imagine that it'd be quite a good addition to the control scheme, fun as it is to career wildly around with a binary control ;-)

Powerglove sounds awesome and interesting. Never saw one used. Have thought it'd be cool to use a Wiimote to steer, though!

I have build Windows binaries in the past, they worked OK on the systems I tested them on. Haven't got a release-quality one yet but would like to. PM me if you'd like to test one!

  • Hey, that's true :-) Particularly as the physics of the bombs includes a blast wave that pushes you if you're near the explosion and (regardless of your proximity to the bomb) the recoil of launching the bomb that pushes you back.

I think this is a much better fit to the gameplay than the laser beam Possibly smaller shockwaves for use in the missions, though ;-)

I've not done so much work on the game for a while - Real Life intervened - but it's quite fun to be getting back into it.

  • Lookin' sweet! I checked up on your blog and I see some good stuff there. You mention joystick support, does that also mean the possibility of analogue control over your lander's thrust?

  • That is awesome stuff, Mark. Well done!

  • it could almost be like a Nuclear Orion Spacecraft simulator with those bombs
