Monster tennis ball launcher

This is a giant tennis ball launcher I made. It runs on compressed air and can shoot a tennis ball at (calculated) 650mph. Its made of 16bar rated PVC pipe and a custom made 3.5inch piston valve.

We were firing from 20 feet away with 80psi of air in the chamber. This is approx half power for this launcher.

yeah will go through about an inch max. Will have more footage soon, including highspeed slowmo footage.

looks like sheet rock to me. I run mine around 140 to 150 psi and I'm pretty happy with it. Do you fill your tennis balls with water or anything to get it to hit harder?

@skvoucher Nope, just a standard empty tennis ball. Might try some with ice in....

awesome...iv seen another similar machine made from steel tubing, they cranked it up to full power (about 160-180psi) and the damn thing broke the sound barrier...and the warehouse wall, and the windsreen of the car outside!!! lets see Federer or Nadal return THAT serve!!!

if u made your air chamber the same size as the barrel it would be more powerful and go about 300 feet at 60 psi

That's pretty cool. I love the bolt action thong you've got going on there. It doesn't seem that powerful for being 80psi, tho... I made an air cannon that is similar... Check out my videos.

@THECHEERIOSRINOS Im in Britain, not north america. Its 75mm 16bar, so its not 2 1/2 diameter.... Its a standard size in the UK.
