@MigueliP26 Well, at least he tries to get in touch with his culture. That deserves some respect. A lot of Pinoys in the states just try to forget about it, which explains why more than 60% of Pinoy women marry non-filipinos, who are mostly whites.

@Microglia1 think about it. if you don't know squat about the local dialect or dialects for that matter, then you'll have a steep learning curve to surmount before you blend in with the crowd. I feel for Augusto. He's not white like anthony. He's not treated to a red carpet meal or greeted enthusiastically by filipinos who are sadly still embroiled in a colonial mentality who knows for a fact that white is might. He's Augusto, a new yorker, an american, a brown guy who can't speak native.

Filipinos originally came from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand (Spain, US, China, etc.), and share many of the same genetic and linguistic roots as the Polynesian peoples who were the gypsies of the sea in this part of the world.
