This event with San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi (who is elected) took place at Rasella's on Fillmore at a meeting of the African American Democratic Club on July 29, 2010. Jeff began the meeting by talking about his experiences as a PD, but he curiously neglected to mention anything substantial about the charter amendment.
In the prior recording, I asked Adachi about the effects of this on lower wage workers, about why Michael Moritz contributed, etc. No meaningful response came out of his mouth (as you can see on the previous video).
Here, Adachi totally fails to listen to this struggling female schoolteacher, who is legitimately complaining that she and other underpaid teachers, while not affected by the pension changes, will have to shell out more for health care, an expense that she and they can ill afford!
Then, SF Fire Fighters Local 798 Floyd K. Rollins II then asks him about Federal health-care funds that may be jeopardized by this initiative. And he also asks him about the additional burdens on the lower-paid workers. As you can see, Adachi has no answer! Floyd told me that "He doesn't know what is in his own initiative."
It is far from clear to me that these paycuts are going to 100% guarantee future pensions. He's using fear tactics...while not discussing why low-income workers are being included in this!
Assuming this information is correct, I am very disappointed in Adachi.
