Another edited film that was shot by my grandfather's friend. It starts out at the Mann Chinese theater on Hollywood Blvd. There's a shot of the Capitol Records building and some nice shots of Beverly Hills and the beach. Also includes footage from Farmer's Market, San Diego, the Mexican border, and then back home to Widsor Hills, where my grandmother carries her groceries to the car from Von's. The music is Dick Dale's, "Let's Go Trippin'"

All you're doing is romanticising the past. Everyone who's nostalgic for some period always does that. Hell, I could say the same about when I was a child in the 90s--equally bullshit.
Btw, I highly doubt all the fun was that "clean" in 1940s, 50s, and ESPECIALLY 60s California. Get real....thanks for listening.
No you are dead wrong. America was a much better place in 1958 and not just in LA. It was better just about everyplace else. I'm too young to remember LA 1958 but I do remember living in an area with NO crime (1964) to speak of and this was not a rich area. People had clean, well kept, if modest houses. We had good schools. It was a BETTER time despite the fact we didn't have the technology we have today. And the music WAS much better. No garbage like Hip Hop and Rap!
juscurious, so what? I grew up in the 90s/00s and I lived in clean, non-violent, virtually no crime, non-rich neighbourhood. As far as I know, people lived good, respectful, clean lives (as in there were no crime related to people feeding a drug habit, for instance. But I, nor do you, actually know just how "clean" people's lives are, do we.) I went to good schools...everything you said you had, I had too, as did MANY other people of my generation. So what r u sayin? Not much, imho.
As we grow older unfortunatebeam, our brain much like an overfull hard drive needs to have some information removed to make room for new information. When we start looking for things from the past to toss out...we tend to forget the bad, and memorialize the good.
I remember the 60's well, I also remember the scare of the Zodiac Killer, Manson, Three assasinations of public figures, the Boston Strangler and the Hippy movement. Yes you are right, there was plenty of bad to temper the good.
