This demonstrates Cubase 4 running 6 VSTi plugins simultaneously with a audio buffer size of 64 samples, the minimal setting. It is running on an older 867MHz G4 processor, and OS 10.4.8. I was told that I was lying when I said that I did this, so here is the proof. The reason people can't do this on their faster G5s and whatnot is because they don't know their gear.

  • can someone recommend the latest pc or imac. I want to buy a computer that will run atleast 10-15 vst softsynths with some effects inserted on each channel and still have very low latency. I dont want to use freeze function or bounce any tracks until im done with the song.

    thanx

  • Any Mac Pro or iMac will do what you want. The main issue is to make sure you get an audio interface with a good driver, and not a USB interface.

  • what kind of a potty plant song structure is that?

  • It's not a song, it's a bunch of crap put together only for the purpose of demonstrating something to some naysayers. This video is not for you.

  • Serious work? Are you serious? Dude I could run a thousand shitty VST's at low latency, the poly count on all six is less than 10 by the sound of it - a bloody calculator can handle that shit, you're a muppet.

  • thx man!

  • Nice vid, i am planning that i buy a g4 quicksilver 933mhz and 512 mb ram. this video is really helpful,

    Thanks

  • I think you use an "off the shelf" soundcard. That's your problem. So my suggestion is to buy a pro card.

  • when i manually set the latency that low in cubase it crackles sometimes but my computer is brand new 4g memory 750 g hard drive dual core could i get a better usb cord or is there some usb ports for high speed please give me suggestions someone

  • I don't get this demonstration. If your using midi it is guarantee low latency. You basically played some midi track and said this prove low latency. What? During playback? I use Sonar 8 Produce and of course there are no latency during playback. What is your latency when you are recording vocals or anything through your microphone. I record vocal in Sonar 8 Producer and I got the latency down to 1.0msec, which is unnoticeable to most human ear. Unless they got Superman's ear.

  • sir, how'd you get the latency down that low?

  • its because of the soundcard.

  • Please read the notes before launching uninformed attacks. This is not a high tech demo. It's showing that a very old slow G4 can run a few VSTs at low latency, which was something some people at the Cubase forum were saying was impossible. It is not a demonstration of the latest techniques on the fanciest gear.
