This video shows me foot launching at Mt. Borah in my hang glider Wednesday the 27th of February, 2008 during the New South Wales State Titles. I'm the second person to launch. The video was taken by Glen Bachelor.
Yeah, that was pretty bad. He can thank the slope for curving off just in time for him to not fall on his face, and he definitely jumped into the air instead of running into it.
i wouldnt say extremely poor, little nose high but if anything he started 20ft to far back, looked like a long way to run before the ground droped away
2nd one's lucky the wing flew at all with that near stall on takeoff, way too steep.. very lucky he got his angle of attack down just when he did, 1/2 second later would have been too late.
second guy had a high angle of attack

shouldnt you be holding the glider a bit higher so the hangstrap it tighter when you start your run?

@anaerosmithfan I agree

Quite a useful lesson there! Thanks.... I'll bear that in mind.

@dhillmjex1 Yup - always easier running down a slope

...1st launch looked OK, pilot 'jumped into the glider' during run instead of continuing
to run until feet could no longer touch the
terrain. Also looked like the nose popped up a bit, suddenly decreasing airspeed.
